Laura joined the KDHRC team with an enthusiasm for public health and a strong desire to contribute to meaningful research.

After returning to school at 30, Laura earned a degree in Anthropology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Illinois – Chicago. During her senior year, she was awarded funding to complete an undergraduate thesis titled Mothers & The COVID-19 Pandemic, where she gained hands-on experience in the research process. From submitting her first IRB application and developing a research plan to conducting surveys in Qualtrics, interviewing participants, writing a 22-page thesis, and presenting her findings at a university research forum, Laura discovered her love for research. This experience fueled her decision to pursue a career in qualitative research.

Following graduation, Laura worked as a research assistant at a marketing agency specializing in public health. At KDHRC, she looks forward to further expanding her expertise in public health while contributing to health and social equity initiatives.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time with her three children, watching reruns of Law & Order: SVU, Friends, or Gilmore Girls, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
