KDHRC receives new NIH funding for In-Home Phase II

KDHRC is proud to announce we have been awarded funding for Phase II of our Small Business Innovation Research program entitled “Intervention to Help Orient Men to Excel (IN-HOME). IN-HOME addresses the pressing need for a culturally appropriate, evidence-based online professional development course to prepare community health workers (CHWs) to conduct outreach aimed at reducing caregiver burden among Black and Latino male informal caregivers, specifically those caring for older adults.

In Phase I of the program, KDHRC completed the development of the prototype content and conducted a feasibility evaluation of the impact of IN-HOME training on CHWs. After the feasibility evaluation, we found that CHWs were better prepared and equipped support to Black and Latino male informal caregivers after access to the IN-HOME prototype. These findings established the need to expand, finalize, and rigorously evaluate IN-HOME as an evidence-based program for CHWs.

Now, we are thrilled to announce that our Phase II funding will allow our team to revise and enhance educational content as well as conduct a randomized controlled trial with Black and Latino male caregivers. We can’t wait to get started and share more exciting updates soon!
