Happy Valentine’s Day! On this love- and heart-focused day, we want to highlight the KDH…

KDHRC Behind the Scenes
We’re excited to share a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Guardians Receiving Information through Navigators (GRIN), our online professional development course designed to prepare community health workers (CHWs) to provide oral health outreach to low-income Black parents and guardians.
Creating engaging and impactful course content is a collaborative effort. From crafting thoughtful lessons to filming and production, every step was guided by one goal: empowering CHWs with the essential tools and knowledge to improve oral health outcomes in their communities.
The need for this work is clear. Children aged 5 to 19 in low-income households are twice as likely to have tooth decay compared to their peers from higher-income households. Even more troubling, Black children are nearly three times more likely to have untreated tooth decay compared to White children. Addressing these disparities is at the heart of GRIN’s mission.
Seeing this vision come to life during filming was both inspiring and motivating, reminding us of the lasting impact these lessons will have on the health and well-being of families reached by GRIN-trained CHWs.
We can’t wait to share this resource and help CHWs make a meaningful difference. Stay tuned for more updates as we roll out the GRIN program!
