FDA launches first-ever national teen vaping prevention campaign with Surgeon General Jerome Adams and FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb
Today, the FDA launched “The Real Cost” Youth E-Cigarette Prevention Campaign. The campaign consists of hard-hitting advertising on digital and social media sites, posters with e-cigarette prevention messages placed in high-schools nationwide, and additional material for students and educators. The campaign targets over 10 million youth, aged 12-17, who have used e-cigarettes or are at risk for trying them. The new campaign, is part of the FDA’s ongoing efforts to prevent tobacco-related diseases and deaths and joins its other tobacco prevention campaigns including: “The Real Cost” Smoking Prevention Campaign, “Fresh Empire” a multicultural tobacco prevention campaign, and “The Real Cost” Smokeless Tobacco Prevention Campaign. KDHRC has served as a scientific subcontractor on The Real Cost since 2014.
